Abstract

Abstract: Thrombolytic therapy is a relatively new and dramatic mode of treatment of the evolving acute myocardial infarction secondary to coronary artery occlusion. The use of streptokinase, urokinase, and tissue plasminogen activator enable the emergency department physician and cardiologist to salvage the myocardium in evolving infarctions to a far greater degree than before these agents became available.1 However, these agents are not without significant side effects and sequelae.2 This is a case presentation of a previously unreported complication following the use of a thrombolytic agent in the acute treatment of a coronary artery occlusion.
